1908 Restored Victorian!

Well, that did it! After learning the town wanted the Muir house for fire practice, my husband and I took on the challenge. Restoration began April 2004 and completed 4-1/2 years later. The foundation to the roof and everything in between became a target of restoration as it was originally inspired in 1908. We gutted the whole house, rebuilt, or repaired for structural integrity, rebuilt foundations, installed new wiring, plumbing, insulation, new roof, new windows... it’s new house in a old body. We tore off the old remodels and add ons to bring back the original features to include , front porch, grand foyer, restored fireplace, stairwell with spindles and newels, pocket doors, spacious dining room and formal parlor all with refinished pine floors. We made period moldings, 5 inch trim, rosettes, plinth block, 11” base board and picture rails. The maids quarters became the master bath with double showers, and the powder room has antique dresser with concrete counter top. The old back porch now includes mud room and laundry. We stripped and refinished the vaulted bead-board ceiling and exposed mission-style beams of the summer sleeping quarters. The spacious country kitchen boasts 2 styles of cabinetry with varying heights gives a nice accent in keeping with the old style, including a butlers pantry,and Cambria quartz counter tops. All new SS appliances for todays modern needs. We sanded, stripped, and painted in four colors to accentuated the home exterior, featuring a generous Victorian porch with a stunning mahogany door, a small cozy balcony off the second floor foyer... Once again , this Victorian can exude her charm.

The home is a short walk to excellent schools, medical facilities, churches, and a 9-hole golf course. Abundant water sports and recreation are only 20 minutes away at Banks Lake and Lake Roosevelt. Wilbur is only 60 miles west of Spokane on highway #2.
